The name of the Vayots Dzor region comes from one of the regions of the province of Syunik in Greater Armenia since the territory of this region is identical to the area of the same name in the Kingdom of Greater Armenia.

Vayots Dzor is also called Vaikidzor: the region was called so in the time of Grabar - the ancient Armenian language. Although according to the most widespread hypothesis, it is the capital of many crafts, including winemaking. Other beliefs from Armenian historiographers, such as Kirakos Gandzaketsi and Stepanos Orbelyan, believe that the name is associated with the Armenian word “vay”, meaning “oh”.

The brand name is entirely inspired by this history and the traditions of the ancient city of Moz. The region had an active volcano of the same name (Moz). Due to the volcanic eruption in 735, the soil became very favourable for cultivating premium grapes, so we took the title Moz.
